Models and Curios |

During the time I have been interested in the Mercedes-Benz 300, I have accumulated a very small collection of models of the type as shown below. However, there are a variety of other models available as outlined in Zeichner pp95. If anyone knows of models other than these, or indeed wishes to dispose of them, then please get in touch!

Whilst at the Beaulieu Auto-jumble in 1997 I found this apparent 'novelty' for sale: the sum of £1 procured it.

Clearly, the item relates to a '300', but who made it, and was it 'given away with corn flakes' as its appearance suggests? The wording on the base appears to read as Elbgaü and perhaps Eis Nassa or Neissa. Help please!!

This model depicts a 300 owned by Adenauer, complete with Chauffeur, set against the background of Hotel Petersberg, a favourite destination for the former Chancellor. For its size, the accuracy and attention to detail is excellent.
The 300S appears to have been more frequently represented by models. Whilst not a W186, photographs of one of the most common models are reproduced below.

For its price (normally circa £16, but I procured a similar model in black for £3 recently) the level of detail in this model is remarkable. This model would, I suggest, make an ideal base vehicle for a scratch-built W186. This model is available in white, black and green, and also in 300SC form (with hardtop).
